12th August: International Youth Day

International Youth Day focuses on the challenges that young people face around the world. On August 12, we should take the opportunity to reflect on the issue of childhood poverty and how we might improve the lives of children everywhere.

On International Youth Day, many activities and events take place around the world to promote the benefits that young people provide to the world. This global event is attended by many countries and may feature youth conferences on topics such as education and employment. Other activities include concerts promoting the world’s youth, as well as various sporting events, parades and mobile exhibitions that showcase young people’s achievements.

Finally, in 1999, the UN took things an exciting step further by declaring August 12 as International Youth Day. Since then, the world has spent each August considering how we can meet the needs of all global communities. By sustainably consuming our resources, we can provide young people with a more comfortable present and future.
