8th August: International Cat Day

Every year on August 8, the world celebrates International Cat Day. This is a day to honor one of the world’s most beloved pets. International Cat Day, sometimes known as World Cat Day, is a holiday established in 2002 to not only celebrate the camaraderie between humans and cats but also to advocate for the safety and well-being of cats.

Cats provide companionship and comfort to many.  Studies show having a cat can help to lower stress, anxiety, and even depression.  Having a cat in your home can also help reduce the risk of heart disease in high-risk individuals.  It can even help fight mental illness.  Cats can be entertaining as well as beneficial to your health.
